Oh, I'm really late with this!  Usually I set it up so it posts the night before, but I guess I forgot all about it.  Now that I am back at work my blog has been suffering.  I'm still reading, or mostly listening, but reviews aren't really happening right now.

This last week I fell behind in writing posts and did not make my goal of blog visits, but it was my second week of being back at work half time and I have to start budgeting my time better.  I did get in another long run this week.  My marathon is now a month away, it gets a bit scarier as it gets closer.  I bought a special shirt to wear as I am running on my birthday.  I'll have to get a picture posted of it.

It's Monday! What are you reading?

I had another high audio week.  This was back to school week for my three oldest children and I worked three half days in my classroom to get ready for our first day which is fast approaching.  I also got in my first 20 mile run in my marathon training.  As the date for the marathon gets closer I keep getting a little more nervous about it.  It is just over a month away now.  I have a feeling that audio books are what I am going to be reading a lot of in the weeks to come as I start teaching again and continue my marathon training.  Plus we also had two picnic/parties this weekend for the holiday so I spent a bunch of time outside enjoying visiting with others.

Last week my family spent the week at the beach.  We had nice weather and spent lots of time on the beach and in the water.  I got some reading in, but not as much as I used to at the beach which isn't a bad thing since it means we were more active than we used to be when the kids were smaller.  I read one magazine, three books and listened to part of two different audio books.

It's Monday, What are you reading?

Last week was a big week in our family.  Saturday marked a year since I ran my first ever 5K and I repeated the race.  My husband ran it with me last year and really kept me going when I wanted to stop and walk so my time ended up being better than I expected for my first race.  This year we ran separately and I took 3 minutes and 17 seconds off last years time.  It wasn't a personal record, but it came close and the record I set was on a nice flat course in March when it wasn't humid at all!

Another big event for us is that we closed on a piece of land that we have been in the process of buying for months.  We have no current plans to build a house on it, maybe in the future, but we do plan on planting things, not totally settled on what exactly.  Our kids are loving going there and exploring and we spent hours there on Saturday mowing and removing rocks and raking.

Reading wise I even stayed up too late one night reading an actual book which hasn't happened lately, but my finished books are mostly audio again.  I'm finding that I will listen to books that I might not have taken the time to sit down and read which is fine.  I am less picky but it also means I might take a chance on something I would have missed otherwise.

Surprisingly, my reread of Outlander took me much longer than I thought it would.  I know it is a dense novel, with small print, but I just didn't enjoy it quite as much this time through.  I am not sure exactly how many times I've read it since discovering it ten years ago, but this was my least enjoyable time.  I still like the story, but I don't think I was in the right mood for it.

A lot of my reading is still audio books.  I really thought summer was going to afford more chances to sit and read, and I have had some, but we have been pretty busy having fun, going to the pool and water park, seeing movies, going to the library and visiting the goats that the time has been nowhere near as plentiful as I thought it would be.  I am managing to get reviews posted again which feels good, but I don't get to visit as many other blogs as I would like to.  Here is my past week:

It's Monday, What are you reading?

Last week if felt so good to get caught up on the reviews for books I had read in the previous months.  I wrote them and scheduled them so that they were set to go one a day and then I knew I had a cushion built in in case I got busy again and didn't get around to writing them again which, managed to happen again.  I thought that now that it was summer and I didn't have to go to work every week I would manage to have more time, but keeping up with  my kids keeps me pretty busy so that hasn't exactly been the case!  Thank goodness for audio books or I wouldn't be getting much reading in still!

It's Monday, What are you reading?

So my blogging hiatus is over, I think.  Tomorrow is my last day of work and then I have a three month break for the summer.  On my list for the months off is reorganizing my house and I mean the whole thing.  My clutter has reached unimaginable heights and it is time to do something about it.  I started in my daughter's room today with her.  It looks so much better.  There is still work to do, but we made such a dent and she is so excited about it.  Along with the reorganization, i need to continue with my marathon training.  20 weeks to go!  I was not expecting to have as much trouble with the heat and humidity, but it can only get better.  I also want to start writing again, regularly blog, read tons and enjoy time with my children.  I am ready for the pool days, not thrilled about the bathing suit part of it, but the sun and fun part of it.  I listed all the books from the past that I never reviewed, i don't know if I will get to them all, but this list is more for me so I can see what books are there that I could review.  I have to admit that I caved to the peer pressure at work and read the first 50 Shades of Grey book, I'm still not sure how I feel about the book, but I read it so I would know for myself what everyone else was talking about.  Here are my books:

It's Monday, What are you reading?

Still not a great reading week.  Work has been busy, the kids have been busy and running is taking up a lot of what used to be reading time.  I haven't abandoned books completely of course, I don't think  I could do that, but I do wish I had a bit more time to sit and read.  Perhaps when summer comes along, with time in the backyard I will find a bit more time to sit and read.  Until then though, this is how the last week went.
