Saturday Snapshot- Bug!

It was hard to get a good picture of this little guy, but we tried.  I am not sure if it is a praying mantis or a stick bug.

We were leaning towards it being a Praying Mantis, but the pictures we found when we looked quickly online were all green.

Anyway, he was our unusual siting of the day along with a frog that hopped way too fast to get a picture of but who got the kids running to try to catch it!

This is hosted by Alyce at At Home with Books.

  1. I'm pretty sure it's not a stick bug, unless there are different varieties. You could Google it for conformation.

  2. That looks like a praying mantis. He is pretty camouflaged, though.

  3. I don't know what it is. We've had some biting insects in our garden this week - resulting in some nasty bites!

  4. I have bug kids too, and then I became a bug mom.

  5. Praying Mantis' are the only bugs I know of that have those odd front legs. I think they can be brown or green. Looks enormous; you're brave for getting that close!

Here's my Saturday Snapshot for the week. Happy Saturday!

  7. Looks like a praying mantis! I tried to get a good picture of one that was much smaller a few weeks ago -- it isn't easy! Great pictures!!!

  8. I vote for it being a praying mantis - and quite a large one at that!
