Finding a Balance

Since I started this blog I have been doing a lot of reading, both because I enjoy it and because in my conception of how the blog would be I wanted to be able to post about a book almost every day. In making time to read I took time away from some other things. I don't miss watching TV much, I still watch a few things but nowhere near as much as I used to. That trade I don't mind at all. The trade I need to reevaluate though is my time for fitness and exercise. Over the summer I was very goal oriented and made sure I worked out every day at least once, I set time goals and distance goals for myself each week and felt really good physcically. Since the end of August I kind of stepped away from that and I can tell in both my energy level and how my clothes are fitting that it is time to make this a priority again. I will miss the extra reading time, but in the long haul I believe that finding a balance will enhance my life and give me more energy to find the time to read. Now I have to decide if I am going to use this as a resolution for the new year or just think of it as a life chance.

  1. I too am trying to find balance. Although mine is more in the food department. I am attempting to eat more healthy food and fewer on fast food meals.

  2. My balance is between reading and working. But since I have to work, the decision is made for me,lol. I should be more into fitness but it is my own laziness that stands in my way. I hope you find that balance

  3. I know people say it all the time, but I wish there were more time in the day. Every night I plan to get to bed earlier than I do but mostly end up staying up to read. When I was more fitness oriented this summer I was reading a lot less and I missed it so I just need to make both rading and exercise work with the rest of my daily life.

  4. I have found I can read while walking on the treadmill. I get a lot of reading done there and I walk much further when I am engrossed in a good book. I'm also thinking about listening to audio books while walking. I was having problems finding the time to read too and do all I need to do here. It's a fine line to balance isn't it? Good luck finding what works for you.

  5. Yes, I gave up TV completely for reading. I do watch movies on the computer, but nothing like I use to.

    Finding balance is good.

    Happy New Year!

  6. I think I've been reading a bit less, but I have been fitting in working out almost every day for three weeks now. Now to keep that going and not get derailed!
