Saturday Snapshot- Trick-or-Treat, November 5, 2011

Our actual trick-or-treat night ended up being disappointing, our neighborhood had not electricity and no street lights so we chose to stay inside, but luckily we had already gone to some of other events.  The Friday before Halloween we went to a party at a friends house and trick-or-treated in their neighborhood and the Wednesday before we went to a free event at the local amusement park.  They had local businesses, firefighters, ambulance workers and costume characters.  It ended up being a lot of fun so it softened the blow of the snowstorm that took out our power for 4 days.  We we lucky because there are still some homes where people are waiting for service to be restored.

  1. How great that you had these opportunities beforehand. And I am sorry that you lost power and had to go through the storms.

  3. A great photo!

Halloween was tough this year, right? Our town center hosted an big event for the kids (for safety and community).

I hope you are recovering from the storm. Have a wonderful weekend!

  4. We offer a lot of alternatives to Trick or Treating as well...in our rural community we have lots of folks who don't live in neighborhoods so they either drive their cars to other people's neighborhoods and clog up the streets...or take advantage of Trick or Treating at the mall, the college, several community churches, etc. Snow this time of year is absolutely incomprehensible to me :(

  5. Oh, what a disappointment that they didn't actually get to go trick or treating. They only have so many years, you know! Very cute costumes though. Here's My Saturday Snapshot

  6. That's great! I bet the kids had a great time. And you could have some really spooky fun in a house with no power, I'll bet.

    My Snapshot is here.

  9. Some towns near here also canceled Halloween due to the storm damage - that must have been hard on the kids. Hope you have power and heat back!
